Brakes!
Finally I get on with the bike.. after Donny work has taken over but I have the bike back now and so onwards….
The brake was failing after 3 laps at Donington… waiting in the wings was the larger billet caliper from Sip.
That pic is the caliper just bolted on… the real issue was bleeding and getting it to clear the Polini floating disc and centralisation of the rotor.
So… off to the PT Works for some Dr Octopus style hydraulic bleeding. I removed the remote system and simply stuck on Charley’s workshop bench.. ” fix it please” and within 5 minutes its done and we are sat drinking tea 🙂
The real problem was clearance. So … back home I am all keen… but the caliper is tounching the bobbins on the disc first of all … and then I notice that its ‘center’ is different to the piaggio caliper.. (well it is on my one anyway). So… many modifications later its all ‘true’ and only needs to be bedded in.
so all good….. next thing to do is the rear shock that overheated… I will keep you posted… 🙂

Hello, I write from Mexico City, asking for advice on how to install this type of disc in my scooter, is a : Vespa PX 200 – 2007, and buy the disc brake SIP Scootershop is a floating brake disc polini road.
my problem is that when trying install the rivets that brings to absorb sound hit the caliper (the caliper is the original) also collide with other parties (such as the plate where it enters the working end of the speedometer)
Could you help me with this, I don`t know what changes have to do.
Thanks in Advance.
Israel
Hi Israel.
You may have to remove some area on the caliper. On the sip caliper it needed attention If I recall.
Also the area around the speedo drive had to be slightly ‘cleaned’ and I also ground a slight chamfer on the inside of the disc. This solved the problem.
Hope that helps
Tony
hey…building a fast road scoot and using the typhoon master cylinder set up under mudguard….question is what sort of cable attachment to cylinder have you used…i’ve been trrying to find details of typhoon set up apparently it uses a yoke type attachment….i’ve made a mounting bracket and a cable stop/adjuster….thanks in advance and good look for the new season !
..oh and are you using sip rim on rear ? cheers
Hi
I drilled the lever out and then machined a lambretta trunnion to suit… (well Charley did tbh).
So it was a compromise fixing… bit of this and that. I intend to get a steel trunnion made to suit out of maybe M10 hex bar as most Lamb trunnions are made of brass. Hope this helps…
