Well the stage is set.. the conditions ok although the headwind could be less.
Both bikes ready to roll…
I take the bike through two gentle runs up the 1/2 mile strip. I wanted to settle it in and also find out any bumps that maybe on route.
Run 4 I opened it up clean through the strip. Top speed was 104.9 so faster than last year but my gear calcs were slightly out so straight back in for a gear up by one tooth on the primary.
I am now at the max gearing as I had prepped the bike for cadwell really… so this is it.
In 1951 Piaggio set 106.3 over a flying Kilometre with the Siluro.
So my idea was to beat this top speed record 🙂
So the lights change and although the motor has an ignition fault at low rpm it soon clears and I tuck in and hang on. A few gear changes later the shift light glows red a few meters before the half mile marker.
I know its going quite well… 🙂
As I return to the pits people are there looking at me… so… what was the time?
So a new top speed record? Faster than the Siluro by .5 mph anyway 🙂
I would like to thank Charlie Edmonds at Performance Tuning for the state of tune..Lauro Caforio at Falc for the kit and Matteo at Duepercento for his help too.
There is more to come!
Well yep, been a while due to various reasons. But now back and decided to attend the Elvington Scooter Shootout to try to improve on the 104mph of last year.
So… its rebuild time to check everything and change the gearbox for something with a lower first gear!
After going through it all everything is fine.. even the clutch is ok.. just a change of springs to be safe and rebuild!
So nearly all done.. ignition to be fitted and some reed mods by Charlie and I will fire it up first time in a year 🙂
